DUBREUIL: Lucien

August 14, 1922 - November 9, 2013

The death of Mr. Lucien Dubreuil of Caleb Village, Humboldt, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital on Saturday, November 9, 2013. He was 91 years of age. Lucien was born on August 14, 1922, to Alfred and Marie (nee Renier) Dubreuil at home on the family farm in the St. Brieux district. He attended Miora Lake School and, throughout his education and afterwards, he worked on his parents' farm. On October 21, 1953, Lucien married Germaine Fortin in St. Brieux. They established their own farm southwest of St. Brieux, where they ran a mixed-farm operation and raised their family of three daughters. Lucien and Germaine enjoyed their years on the farm with the lifestyle it offered. In Lucien's younger years, he enjoyed taking care of the horses. Later on, his hobbies were playing cards, square dancing, gardening, fishing, and visiting with family and friends. Lucien's greatest passion was carpentry and woodworking; he built most of his farm buildings, and crafted hope chests, plant stands, wishing wells, and many other items for his family. In 1987, Lucien and Germaine left the farm and moved into Muenster and eventually, they relocated to Humboldt. During the past two-and-a-half years, Caleb Village has been their home. Lucien will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Germaine (nee Fortin) Dubreuil of Humboldt, SK; their three children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild: Cecile Gibson (Rob Haughian) of Craven, SK; Francise (Lloyd) Dobmeier of Saskatoon, SK, and family, Leona Dobmeier (Roger Dewald), and Evan (Kim) Dobmeier and son Wyatt; and Alice Polanik (Ron Poss) of Humboldt and family, Constance (Michael) Le Blanc, Vanessa Polanik (Todd Roberts), and Alex Polanik; one sister, Irene Gorin of Saskatoon; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Marie (nee Renier) Dubreuil; one sibling (in infancy); two sisters: Marie Assie, and Celine Sherwood; two brothers: August Masse, and Maurice Masse; brothers-in-law: Louis Assie, Gordon Sherwood, and Clement Gorin; and by sisters-in-law: Jean Masse and Anne Marie Masse. The Prayer Service for Lucien was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., led by Marlene VanDresar and organist Marie Aubin. Scripture readers were Constance Le Blanc and Alice Polanik, and the eulogy was delivered by Cecile Gibson, Francise Dobmeier, and Alice Polanik. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Peter's R.C. Cathedral, Muenster, SK, on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at 1:30 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Daniel Muyres, OSB. Others taking part were: Constance Le Blanc, crossbearer; Leona Dobmeier and Vanessa Polanik, scripture readers; Francise Dobmeier and Cecile Gibson, intentions; Ernest Masse and Ron Poss, giftbearers.
