Loretta B. Schreiner October 24th, 1913 - March 24th, 2011The passing of Mrs. Loretta (nee Sarauer) Schreiner of St. Mary's Villa, Humboldt, (and formerly of Annaheim), occurred at her residence on Thursday, March 24th, 2011, with her family by her side. She was 97 years of age. Loretta was the second child born to John and Mary (nee Braun) Sarauer, on October 24th, 1913. She grew up on the farm and attended Schuler School. Loretta completed her grade seven education. At the age of fourteen, she left school to help her mother and father on the family farm. During the years between1931 to 1934, Loretta worked for various families in the area and then had the opportunity for employment working for Tony Ramler who provided her with room and board plus $15.00 per month. She met Adolph Schreiner when he came to work on the farm for her father. Loretta and Adolph were married on October 6th, 1936, by Father Joseph. The young couple moved into their new home on the farm in the fall, starting out with one quarter and expanding in the future to three quarters. Between the years of 1937 to 1956, they were blessed with eight children. In the fall of 1973, Adolph and Loretta sold their farm to the eldest son Cliff and moved to a new home in Annaheim. In 1981, the couple celebrated 45 years of marriage. On January 23rd, 1982, Loretta lost her beloved Adolph. She continued to live in their home in Annaheim. She loved quilting. All of her family, grand-children and great-grandchildren, have at least one of her beautiful handmade quilts. She had other hobbies she enjoyed as well, they were: watching television, especially sports. She was a fan of the Blue Jays, the Calgary Flames and curling. Loretta also loved a good game of cards such as Schmear or Schpits Buch, just to name a few. She also enjoyed outings to play bingo.
