Leona Elizabeth OlynukJune 19, 1943 - September 4, 2011 It is with profound sadness that the family of Mrs. Leona Elizabeth (nee Kaun) Olynuk of Middle Lake, SK, announces her death on Sunday, September, 4, 2011, at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK. She was 68 years of age. Leona was born on June 19, 1943, to Leonard and Frieda (nee Lechler) Kaun at Humboldt. She grew up on the family farm east of Middle Lake and attended Middle Lake Rural School. She completed Grade 12 at Humboldt Collegiate Institute. Leona then worked at Kirsch Farm Equipment and was secretary for the Village of Middle Lake. On November 26, 1966, she married Mike Olynuk in Middle Lake. Their union was blessed with two children, a son and a daughter. Following their marriage, Leona and Mike resided on their acreage on the outskirts of Middle Lake where they operated Mike Olynuk Sales as well as farming. In 1988, they moved into town and resided there until the early 1990s when they relocated into Humboldt. Leona loved gardening, flowers, socializing with close friends and neighbors, visiting family, spending time with her grandchildren, camping, and travelling. In addition, Leona was a member of the Middle Lake History Book Committee, took part in a variety of community events, and used her God-given artistic talent painting pictures and making signs for all types of functions. Leona will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 44 years, Mike Olynuk of Humboldt; two children and seven grandchildren: Allan (Corrine) Olynuk of Middle Lake and family, Evan, Haley and Rayna; and Donna (Garry) Berting of Middle Lake and family, Braxton, Grayson, Ryker and Huxley. She was predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Frieda (nee Lechler) Kaun; and by her brother, Lawrence Kaun (1991). The Funeral Service for Leona was held at Faith Lutheran Church, Middle Lake, on Friday, September 9, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Ken Keller. The urn bearer was Todd Schuler and the memorial table attendants were Ingrid Lechler and Anita Koeferle. The music ministry was provided by Sharon Carter. Interment followed at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Middle Lake. Memorial donations may be directed to Bethany Pioneer Village, Middle Lake. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
