KENNETH SCHMEISER
February 12, 1928 - May 14, 2013
It is with deep sadness that the family of Kenneth Schmeiser announces his passing on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, in Saskatoon at the age of 85. Kenny was born on February 12, 1928, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Humboldt. He lived most of his life in Bruno, until his retirement at Bethany Pioneer Village in Middle Lake, and lastly at St. Mary's Villa in Humboldt. Kenny was a loving and gentle person, very interested in people, and spent much of his later years caring for others. He was very fond of his nieces and nephews in Canada and Australia, and never forgot their birthdays. He is lovingly remembered by his three brothers, Percy (Louise), Douglas (Irene), and James (Teresa), and by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Elsie (nee Haselwanter) Schmeiser, and by his older sister, Doreen, and her husband, Keith Wiggins. The Vigil of Prayer was held at St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church, Bruno, on Friday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m., led by Fr. Joseph Ackerman, OSB. Music ministry was delivered by organist Annie Moritz and the St. Bruno choir. Scripture readers were Daniel Schmeiser and Mary Ellen Stann, and the eulogy was delivered by Douglas and James Schmeiser. The Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Saturday, May 18, at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Joseph Ackerman, OSB. Others taking part were: Paul Revering, crossbearer; Percy and Louise Schmeiser, urnbearers; Mary Lou Schechtel and Kathleen Chipperfield, scripture readers; Mary Jane Revering, intentions; Peggy Schmeiser and Anna Marie Ference, giftbearers; Marcella Borstmeyer and Annette Huber, memorial table attendants; organist Annie Moritz and the St. Bruno choir, music ministry. Interment followed at St. Bruno Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to either Bethany Pioneer Village, St. Mary's Villa, Prairie View in Bruno, or St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
