THIEL: Karen Rose

September 18, 1965 - September 11, 2014

The passing of Karen Rose (nee Flottemesch) Thiel of Bruno, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK, peacefully surrounded by her family, on Thursday, September 11, 2014. She was 48 years of age. Karen was born on September 18, 1965 in Cudworth, SK, to Adolph and Paula (nee Schwark) Flottemesch. She attended Cudworth School in Cudworth for grades K-9, St. Ursuline's Academy in Bruno for grades 10-11, and St. Angela's Academy in Prelate for grade 12. Upon completion of high school, Karen continued her schooling at Marvel Beauty School in Saskatoon. Not long after, she married her sweetheart, Kevin Thiel, on December 1, 1984. They lived for a time in Lanigan, and later moved to Humboldt where she worked at 6th Avenue Stylists until the birth of their first child, Dustin. From that time on, she became a full time mom, and they also made a move to a farm near Bruno at which time their second child, Kari-Lynn, was born. From here, they moved to a farm near Cudworth, and after some time, they moved to Wakaw. Karen took on the job of a full-time babysitter in Wakaw when their third child, Cody, was born. When Cody started school, she started working at the Co-op Grocery Store and then switched over to working at Wakaw Pharmacy. One more move brought them to Bruno where she took up working at Grainger's Drugs and Bruno Library and then to Sagehill Development Corporation. Karen worked a few winters alongside Kevin as the caretaker at the Bruno Skating Rink. Her most recent job was as a Client Services Representative at the Bruno Savings and Credit Union. During the course of her life, she fitted in chasing her kids around Saskatchewan, and sometimes western Canada, for their sporting activities such as hockey, broomball and ball. There were always family functions of all nature to attend. This meant NEVER missing a birthday, anniversary or a chance to spoil the children, hers or others!!!!! Karen will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Kevin Thiel; her children, Dustin (Melissa) Thiel, Kari-Lynn (Zach) Stanners, and Cody Thiel; her parents, Adolph and Paula Flottemesch; parents-in-law, Dennis and Pearl Thiel; siblings: Kevin Flottemesch (Cindy Gage) and children, Christen and Justin; Darlene (Paul) Huber and children, Alyssa and Kathryn; Brad (Brandi) Flottemesch and children, Madison and Shane; Diane (Wayne) Hessdorfer and children, Brett and Ryan; Sherry (Mike) Kwasnica and children, Chelsea (Chris Godart), Austin (Jaylene Koski), and Tyler; Candace (Cory Paul) Kuta and children, Riley, Dreyton, Dawson, Dixon and Danielle; in-laws: Garry (Maureen) Thiel and children, Dillan, Austin, and Kolton; Clayton (Jackie) Thiel and children, Janelle, Amber, and Josh; and Lori (Dean) Weiman and children, Tristin and Cole.
