KNACKSTEDT: Justin August
Justin August Knackstedt, 23, passed away tragically in the line of duty on May 31, 2013. Justin was born on December 6, 1989, to proud parents Howard and Lori Knackstedt and was raised on the family farm at the old townsite of Wimmer, located between Watson and Quill Lake, Sask. Justin attended kindergarten to grade 12 at Quill Lake School. Throughout these years he kept himself busy by playing hockey, helping on the farm, and working at the Co-op in Watson. After graduation, Justin helped his neighbors complete harvest and worked for Monster Construction before heading to work on the oil rigs for the winter. That spring, he continued to work for Monster Construction and in the fall, Justin started at SIAST in Prince Albert and graduated from Resource and Environmental Law in the Spring of 2011. During the summer between school, he worked as a conservation officer at Miquelon Lake in Alberta. After completion of his schooling, Justin started his career at the Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park as a conservation officer for two years. After the work seasons ended, Justin headed to work for Cross Borders Drilling for the winter months. In May 2013, he transferred to Saskatoon and area as a conservation officer. Justin had a passion for the outdoors that led him to his career path - which he loved. Even when he was away working, his heart was always at home with his family. He enjoyed spending countless hours with his sister Trina, brother Dawson, uncle Marlon, and mom and dad. Whether he spent his time hunting, fishing, ATVing, snowmobiling, or helping the neighbors out, it was hard to find him idle! Justin was constantly busy, whether it was receiving his 1A licence, or helping on the Geyer farm. Justin was predeceased by grandmother Leona Bunyan, grandfather Howard Knackstedt, great-aunt Linda Chmarney, great grandma Marge Cummings ("Great Marge"). He is survived by his parents, Howard and Lori; sister Trina; brother Dawson; grandparents, Don and Betty-Lou Harley and Morris Bunyan; close uncle Marlon Bunyan; as well as countless family, friends and those individuals whose lives he touched.
