HOPFNER: Jennie Jennie Clemmie Hazel Hopfner was born on July 28 th , 1939 on the family farm near St. Brieux, Saskatchewan. She attended Sacriston Country School and graduated from St. Brieux High School in 1958.

Jennie Clemmie Hazel Hopfner was born on July 28th, 1939 on the family farm near St. Brieux, Saskatchewan. She attended Sacriston Country School and graduated from St. Brieux High School in 1958. On August 12, 1958 Jennie married Gaza Simon. They made their home near Middle Lake, Saskatchewan on the Simon family farm. Together they had 3 beautiful children. While building a home for her family Jennie worked at the local Credit Union and Bethany Pioneer Village. In 1980 Jennie lost her husband Gaza to heart disease. Jennie met Donald Hopfner and they married in 1982. They lived in Kamloops BC for one year and then moved back to Saskatchewan to be nearer to aging parents. They purchased a motel in Naicam. After several years they sold the motel. They purchased a house in Naicam and lived there until the present. They both managed the Naicam Housing Authority and farmed at Middle Lake for ten years. Over the years Jennie enjoyed skiing, boating, fishing, golfing and traveling. Jennie and Don went to many Oldtime Dances and Polka Fests. Jennie always enjoyed sewing and crafts. Jennie enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. Over the years she traveled to Hawaii, Mexico, Arizona and adjacent states, a tour of Florida, a Caribbean Cruise, a bus tour of eastern Canada and US, and a wonderful trip to Yellowstone National Park. She explored many historical sites in both Canada and the United States. Two favourite places to escape some of the winter weather were BC and Apache Junction Arizona. Jennie is survived by her loving children Brent (Shirley) Simon and their daughter Richelle; Yvette (Jack Tobin) Simon and their children Colby and Paige; and Craig (Brenda) Simon and their daughters Rhea, Megan and Nikki; and her brother Frank Hague. Jennie was predeceased by her first husband Gaza Simon, her parents Samuel and Hazel Hague, her sister Dora Bedard and her second husband Donald Hopfner. A Memorial Service for Jennie was held from the Fedusiak Funeral Chapel, Melfort, on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Evelyn Rigby officiating. The interment followed in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Melfort. Honorary pallbearers were "All of Jennie's family and friends", and tributes were given by Jennie's grandchildren. The Memorial book was attended to by Alexis Hague and Soren Seykora and the organist for the service was Judith Solsten.
