The passing of Mrs. Irene (nee Lepsenyi) Heidecker of St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt, SK, occurred at her residence on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at the age of 85 years. Irene was born on February 18, 1929, to John and Mary (nee Galambos) Lepsenyi at Wakaw Annaturnbull Hospital, Wakaw, SK. She attended MacKintosh School, and for a short time, Rossdale School not far from High Level Bridge in Edmonton, AB. On October 26, 1948, Irene married Harold Heidecker at Trinity Lutheran Country Church, Middle Lake, SK, and they purchased their own farm north of Middle Lake. They were blessed with the birth of two children: Beatrice and Murray. Irene worked at Bethany Pioneer Village as a nurses’ aide. Her one accomplishment, which made her proud, was that she obtained her driver’s licence, which enabled her to be able to drive back and forth to work. Irene enjoyed cooking, gardening, and raising her turkeys, ducks, geese, and chickens, and also her inside and outside pet dogs. In her younger years, Irene enjoyed doing embroidery, stamp collecting, and collecting pictures of the Royal Family. Later on in life, she enjoyed listening to country music and watching TV. In 1993, after the passing of her husband Harold, Irene took up residence at the Sunset Estates. While here, she enjoyed doing puzzles, playing cards, and visiting in the evening with friends. In 2002, she made her home at St. Mary’s Villa. Irene will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Beatrice Ackerman of Maple Ridge, BC; and her son Murray (Juvela) Heidecker and their daughters Iola and Stella of Maple Ridge, BC; and brother Gordon (Ailsa) Lepsenyi of Victoria, BC. She was predeceased by her husband Harold Heidecker; parents John and Mary (nee Galambos) Lepsenyi; and brother Walter (Irene) Lepsenyi.
