SZAUTNER :
Harvery Robert Szautner, 66 years of Humboldt, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. Harvey was born on October 22, 1946 at Humboldt to Gesa and Pearl (nee Boehm) Szautner. He grew up on the farm in Muenster where he attended school, graduating in 1965. Harvey moved to Saskatoon, attended SIAST and received his diploma in mechanics. He returned to Muenster and began working at Humboldt Motors. On July 13, 1968, Harvey married Irene Vogelsang. They began their married life in Muenster and a few years later moved to a farm 3 miles south of town, where they raised their family of three. Harvey worked for Al's Welding until he started his 28 year career at Central Canada Potash. In 2002, Harvey and Irene built a new home in Humboldt and moved into town. Harvey loved cars, he knew everything about them, loved working on them and restoring them, with his favourite being his 1967 Ford Fairlane. He loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting, camping and fishing at Tobin Lake always going for the "Big One". As his family grew to include his six grandchildren, he was a very proud and loving grandpa. Harvey will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 44 years, Irene Szautner of Humboldt; their three children and six grandchildren: Vicki (Brian) Starr and children, Andee and Connor, of Calgary, AB; Kent (Chantelle) Szautner and children, Mila and Charlie, of Saskatoon; and Lisa (Jordan) Thurber and children, Jaeda and Aiden, of Prince Albert; five brothers and one sister: Ken (Bertha) Szautner of Humboldt, Kevin (Doreen) Szautner of Muenster, Marilyn (Ray) Tebbe of Muenster, Russell (Pat) Szautner of Humboldt, Gordon Szautner of Saskatoon and Bruce (Gail) Szautner of Humboldt. Harvey was predeceased by his parents, Gesa and Pearl Szautner. The Prayer Service for Harvey was held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 8:00 p.m., led by Jenny Irwin. The Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Ephraim Mensah, Fr. Bernard Stauber and Fr. Demetrius Wasylyniuk, OSB. Both services were held at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt. Interment followed in St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations in Harvey's memory may be made to St. Augustine Parish Centre or Saskatchewan Cancer Agency. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humbold, SK.
