STADNYK: Harry

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our Husband, Dad and Gedo, Harry Stadnyk, age 81 years of Humboldt, on May 4, 2013, at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, SK. Harry was born on June 5, 1931, to Fred and Alice Stadnyk on the family farm in the Carmel area. He attended Mount Carmel School and then began working on the farm with his dad. For a few years, Harry would find work out of province during the winter months. On July 30, 1960, he married Helen Harasymchuk of Smuts, SK, and they took over the mixed farming operation from his parents. They raised four children and taught them to be hard workers with good strong family values. Harry loved the farming lifestyle, socializing with family and friends with many occasions being celebrated at their farm. Harry loved to dance in his younger days. He was the spare bus driver and then took over the regular route for a number of years. Harry and Helen were faithful members of Holy Trinity Bruno Farms U.C. Church and then the All Saints U.C. Church and St. Augustine R.C. Church in Humboldt once they had moved to town. Above all, family meant everything to Harry. He enjoyed playing checkers, cribbage and Kaiser with his kids and grandchildren. Harry will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Helen; their four children and 10 grandchildren: Sandra (Pat) Meldrum of Saskatoon and children Mitchell and Jill; Karen Stadnyk (fiancé Michael) of Saskatoon and her children Brennan, Josie, Molly and Cole Prokopchuk; Jim (Debra) Stadnyk of Saskatoon and children Justin and Carter; and Bradley (Paula) Stadnyk of Okotoks, AB, and children Joshua and Samuel; three sisters and two brothers: Pauline (Lawrence) Halowski, Sr. Yvonne "Jean" Stadnyk, Steve (Lillian) Stadnyk, Elsie (Joe) Diakow and Dr. Irwin (Barb) Stadnyk; two sisters-in-law, Victoria Stadnyk and Helen Stadnyk; two brothers-in-law, Don Hurst and Julian Warawa; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Harry will join in eternal peace with his parents, Fred and Alice (nee Thoms) Stadnyk; four brothers: Michael (Erlene), Roman, John, Peter; and four sisters: Anne (John) Zmud, Frances (Stan) Hachkowski, Marion Hurst, and Sally Warawa. The Prayer Service for Harry was held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 8:00 p.m., led by Nestor Trach and Denise Germain, organist. The Funeral Mass was held on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., concelebrated by Fr. Gregory Roth and Rev. Fr. André Lalach. Both services were held at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt. Interment followed in the All Saints Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Humboldt. Memorial Donations in Harry's memory may be made to the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humboldt, SK.
