BOLSTER: Florence Martha

The death of Mrs. Florence Martha (nee Loessl) Bolster of Saskatoon, SK, (and formerly of Humboldt, SK), occurred at St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon, on Monday, May 12, 2014. She was 82 years of age. Florence was born on September 26, 1931, to John and Frances (nee Doetzel) Loessl at home on the family farm in the Fulda district. She grew up there and attended a rural school nearby. Following her education, Florence worked at the Red & White Store for a few years. Eventually, she met the love of her life, George Bolster, and they were married on October 18, 1950. Together, she and George lived and worked side-by-side on the Bolster homestead in the Fulda area until 1986, when they retired from farming and moved into Humboldt. Florence began working at Thoms Fabrics, and then moved on to Sears where she was employed for the next 21 years, at which time she retired. She absolutely loved it there; the staff was like an extended family and she also met and became friends with a lot of customers. Florence was also known as the first Tupperware lady in the area. Florence and George enjoyed a full and active social life. They both had a passion for music and dancing (including ballroom and square dancing), and attended dances in Humboldt, Saskatoon, and other places at every opportunity they could. When Florence entered the dance floor at the beginning of the evening, she seldom got off the floor until the band packed up. She also enjoyed the outdoors and camping, and loved to go walking, which she did almost every day, rain or shine. As well, Florence and George traveled extensively, going on cruises, and touring throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe. Many winters were spent in Junction, Arizona, which Florence continued to do right up until this year. George passed away on December 1, 1998. Florence continued to reside in Humboldt until she moved to Saskatoon, her home until the present. Florence is survived by her twin brother, Florian Loessl of Manitou Beach, SK; three sisters: Clara Kalthoff of Kelowna, BC, Marie (David) Lauer of Kelowna, BC, and Christina (Joe) Gaetz of Golden, BC; and by numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, George Bolster (December 1, 1998); parents, John and Frances (nee Doetzel) Loessl; one sister, Eleanore (George) Kosokowsky; and by brother-in-law, Henry Kalthoff. The Prayer Service for Florence was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at 7:30 p.m., led by Walter Sarauer and organist Darlene Cash. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt, on Friday, May 16, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Ephraim Mensah. Others taking part were: Shane Loessl, crossbearer; Bryan Loessl, urnbearer; Agatha Rueve and Alice Tataryn, scripture readers; Katelyn Kosokowsky, intentions; Aaron and Darlene Kosokowsky, giftbearers; Ralph and Karen Fleischhacker, communion ministers; Armella Fleischhacker and Sonia Leicht, memorial table attendants. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Kosokowsky, Larry Loessl, Gord Mather, Donald Leuck, Lloyd Flory and Michael Fleischhacker. Interment followed at St. Augustine R.C. Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to either the Friends of the Water Tower Fund, Humboldt, or the Humboldt and District German Heritage Society. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
