Ewald Wolfram Redemann
July 28, 1931 - March 1, 2013
The sudden death of Mr. Ewald Wolfram Redemann of Humboldt occurred at his residence on Friday, March 1, 2013. He was 81 years of age. Ewald was born to Ewald Sr. and Klara (nee Thelen) Redemann on July 28, 1931, at Dortmund, Germany, where he was raised and educated. He came to Canada in 1957, but returned to Germany a few years later. On July 2, 1965, Ewald married Karin Hoffmann in Germany. Their first daughter, Patricia was born in Germany. In 1967, the family of three immigrated to Canada. Initially, the Redemanns resided in Regina and Tisdale and, in 1968, they settled in Humboldt where Ewald opened a Denture Clinic. A second daughter, Gloria, was born thus completing their family unit. In 1974, the family moved to an acreage on the southeast edge of town, where many happy years were spent. Ewald spent innumerable pleasant and fulfilling hours landscaping and maintaining the acreage, which was always evident in its impeccably manicured lawn and beautiful trees. Ewald loved Canada, especially the prairies. He also had a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors, animals, and birds. Much joy was derived from camping, hiking, fishing, shoe-snowing, skiing, and swimming; he was always the first one into the lake. As well, Ewald enjoyed making wine, woodworking, and singing in the St. Augustine Choir and the Waldsee Singkreis (German Choir). In 2011, Ewald retired and was quite content spending more time with his wife in the peace and serenity of their home and acreage. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Karin (nee Hoffmann) Redemann; and by their two daughters and their families: Patricia (Eduardo) Ovies and son Marco; and Gloria (James) McCormick and children Joel and Jenna. He was predeceased by his parents, Ewald Sr. and Klara (nee Thelen) Redemann (in Germany). The Prayer Service for Ewald was held at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt, on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., led by Marlene Van Dresar and Janice Dobmeier; and organist Marie Aubin. Scripture readers were Dorothy Hinz and Ted Schugmann, and the eulogy was delivered by Kathy Tumback. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine R.C. Church on Friday, March 8, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., concelebrated by Fr. Gregory Roth and Fr. Demetrius Wasylyniuk, OSB. Others taking part were: Joel McCormick, crossbearer; Marco Ovies and Dr. Gerald Junk, scripture readers; Patricia Ovies and Gloria McCormick, intentions; Joel and Jenna McCormick, giftbearers; and Ursula Klassen, memorial table attendant. Active pallbearers were Milton Mattson, John Hilbert, Raymond Tebbe, Richard Leuschen, Ed Brockmeyer, and Randy Fogen. Interment will take place at St. Augustine R.C. Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to either the St. Augustine Parish Centre, the Humboldt Food Bank, or the David Ronald Bell Cardiac Endowment Fund. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
