MANDERSCHEID: Doreen Matilda

We remember with love, the life of Doreen Manderscheid, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Doreen passed away at Lanigan Union Hospital, Lanigan, SK, on Sunday, June 22, 2014. She was 75 years of age. Doreen was born to George and Minnie (nee Schedlosky) Crooks on October 20, 1938, in Humboldt, SK, and was raised and educated in the Humboldt/Muenster area. Doreen met Alois "Shorty" Manderscheid who was living in Humboldt. On October 22, 1957, they were married in St. Scholastica Roman Catholic Church near Burr, SK. Two children, a daughter and a son, were born to them. Doreen and Shorty lived in many parts of Saskatchewan before settling in Guernsey. For many years, Doreen worked as a sales clerk at Robinson's in Lanigan. She was a wonderful seamstress, and also enjoyed baseball, curling, and having a laugh at her weekly card games. Doreen is survived by her two children: Deborah (Les) of Princeton, BC, and her daughter Kerrie of Vancouver, BC; and Lyle (Nancy) of Spalding, SK, and his daughter Dallas of Edmonton, AB; Tiffany Anderson of Moose Jaw, SK; her brother Ivan (Roseanne) Crooks of Wakaw, SK; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alois Manderscheid; parents, George and Minnie (nee Schedlosky) Crooks; two brothers: Robert (Gladys) and Allan; and by two nephews. The Prayer Service for Doreen was held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Lanigan, on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at 7:30 p.m., led by Laura Novecosky. Others taking part were: Darlene Bindle and Marilyn Miller, scripture readers; Darlene and Bruce Bindle, memorial table attendants. The Funeral Mass was offered on Friday, June 27, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Paul Paproski, OSB. Others taking part were: Scott Anderson, crossbearer; Yvonne McCallum and Marilyn Miller, scripture readers; Marilyn Miller, intentions; Yvonne McCullum and Marilyn Miller, memorial table attendants; Thelma Schedlosky, eulogist. The urnbearers were Kerrie Manderscheid and Tiffany Anderson. Music ministry for both services was provided by organist William Dodd. The eulogy was delivered by Thelma Schedlosky following the conclusion of the Funeral Mass. A Private Interment Service was held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery.
