The passing of Mrs. Dianne (nee DeSchryver) Strunk of Englefeld, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital on Friday, February 20, 2015. Dianne was born in Watson on September 23, 1947, to Elizabeth (nee Zentner) and Alfons DeSchryver. She lived on the family farm in Romance, where she attended Early Dawn School. Her parents relocated to Englefeld in 1963, where she finished her schooling. As the fifth oldest in a family of ten she helped with the farm work, while at the same time learning to be a homemaker. On July 24th, 1965, Dianne Marie married her best friend, Roger Charles Strunk. This coming summer, they would have been married 50 years. In their early years of marriage, Roger and Dianne built a new home just south of Englefeld. In 1968, when Rogerβs parents retired from farming and moved to BC, Roger and Dianne moved to the original Strunk homestead, the place they still call home. Besides helping with the everyday farm work, Dianne made the homestead a beautiful place to raise their family of six children. Anyone that knew Dianne knows that their yard was kept like a park. Her garden had the straightest rows, and every flower bed was trimmed to perfection. Her greatest gardening achievement was when they were chosen to receive the RM yard beautification award. In 2003, Dianne made sure that the yard was groomed to perfection when they hosted the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the original homestead, where she had the opportunity to share their beautiful yard with others. Some of Dianneβs other passions in life included a deep love for babies, enjoying the beauty of Godβs creatures, working and singing in her greenhouse and taking care of the elderly. She worked for numerous years at the LeRoy and Watson Lodge and spent many hours caring for her Mom and Dad in their later and final years. Her other interests included baking special treats for her grandchildren and spending quality time with them whenever they came to visit. They will always treasure the afghan and quilt she lovingly stitched for each of them. She always had a smile on her face as she watched her family enjoy the favourite meals she had prepared for them. The rooms of her home were filled with music. She loved to sing and we were truly blessed to be able to enjoy her beautiful alto voice. Dianne treasured going for long strolls where she would marvel at the beauty of Godβs creation. Playing cards, bingo, and quilting were also some of her favourite pastimes. Today we believe that Godβs promises are fulfilled for Dianne, that she has been taken home, embraced, welcomed and loved eternally, without fear, and without pain. She will be waiting for us. Dianneβs earthly life has ended and her spiritual life has begun. She is now free to fly with the angels. βThe nicest place to be is in someoneβs thoughts. The safest place to be is in someoneβs prayers. And the very best place to be is....In the hands of God.β Dianne will be lovingly remembered by her husband and best friend, Roger of Englefeld, SK: 6 children and 18 grandchildren: Kevin (Lori) of Martensville, SK, Justin and Jordyn; Dean (Terri) of Martensville, SK, Alexandra, Tristin and Dawson; Corinne (Greg) Harcourt of Quill Lake, SK, Dalyn, Brynn and Karys; Glen (Carla) of Marwayne, AB, Austin, Haiden, Rae-Anne and Shea-Lynn; Gaylene (Mike) Webb of Edmonton, AB, Emily-Anne, Keira and Kylie; Charlene (Cory) Baduik of Perdue, SK, Haley, Josh and Brett.
