HAY:

It is with heavy hearts that the family announce that Mr. David John Hay, 52 years, of Humboldt passed away at Humboldt District Hospital on Sunday, February 10, 2013. David was born on August 12, 1960 the third oldest child of six to Joe and Agnes (nee Frank) Hay at North Battleford. Later the family moved to St. Walburg where David obtained all of his education. His parents owned the local grocery store, Hay's Shop-Rite. This gave the family an opportunity to work together in all areas of the business. One of David's duties was to deliver groceries to many people and it would brighten their day when he appeared at their door. He always made time to visit and share his time with them. David played hockey and baseball and enjoyed these sports. He was a very quiet person who loved to spend hours working on vehicles, he was very mechanically inclined. In 1980, David was employed in the oil industry and unfortunately on his way home one night he was involved in a serious accident at the age of 20. His loving and caring family made a decision that they would take him home and become his caregivers. So his mother took on the role of the primary care giver with the help of his father Joe and sister Arla. After Agnes's passing last year, Joe and Arla continued to provide the excellent care he was accustomed to. They did have wonderful help and care provided by the homecare aids. David had a wonderful relationship with them and they were able to bring comfort and smiles to him regularly. Even though David was unable to express himself verbally he was able to communicate through eye contact, facial expressions and with his infectious laugh. David will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his father Joe Hay of Humboldt; three sisters and one brother and their families: Donna (Lyle) Schneider of St. Walburg and family, Chris of Calgary, Carmen of St. Walburg and Mike of Calgary;Joan (Robert) Hoffman of Lloydminster, AB, and family, Arla (Gerald) Macnab and children Connor, Rogan and Quinn, and Jaime (Ray) Seguin, all of Lloydminster, AB and Whitney Hoffman of St. Walburg; Grant (Lillian) Hay of Rocky Mountain House, AB and family, Rebecca (Josh) Zezula and children Micheal, Hailey, Thayne and Scarlett of Leslieville, AB, Joe Hay (Sara) and son Evan of Red Deer, AB and Cody Hay of Sylvan Lake, AB; and Arla (Larry) Berting of Humboldt and family Jesse Lefebvre of Vonda, Mitchell and Brandon Berting of Humboldt. David was predeceased by his mother, Agnes Hay (January 22, 2012); brother, Tim Hay (February 26, 2012); maternal grandparents, William and Rose (nee Rauw) Frank; paternal grandparents, John and Margaret (nee Batty) Hay and uncle, William Parker. A Funeral Mass was held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home Humboldt, celebrated by Fr. Gregory Roth. Interment followed at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery, Humboldt. Memorial donations in David's memory may be directed to St. Augustine Parish Building Fund or Saskatchewan Abilities Council 2310 Louise Ave. Saskatoon, SK S7L 2C7. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to MALINOSKI & DANYLUIK FUNERAL HOME, Humboldt (306-682-1622).
