The passing of Cleo Crone of Englefeld, SK, occurred on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, at the age of 89 years. Cleo was born on September 25, 1924 to Henry and Maria Crone in Garrel, Germany. In 1928, the family immigrated to Canada and resided on a farm near Annaheim, SK, where Cleo was raised and went to school. In 1947, Cleo bought a half section of land north of Englefeld and on October 10, 1950, Cleo married Lorraine Kunz. They were blessed with the birth of their only child, Ken, who farmed with them. Their grandson Craig later joined them in farming. Upon retiring from farming, Cleo and Lorraine enjoyed spending their summers at Barrier Lake. Cleo will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lorraine; his son, Kenneth (Kathy) Crone and family, Craig Crone (Pam) and their children, Cody and Payton, Loriann (Bryan Bowman) and their children Alexandra and Erik, and Tracey Crone. His siblings: Hedwig Munkler, Martha Kunz, Anne (Bernard) Niekamp, Pauline (Simon) Kunz, Joseph (Eleanor) Crone, John (Dorothy) Crone, Donald (Rita) Crone, and Lucille Wuchner and sisters-in-law: Josephine and Rita Crone and Josie Carrobourg. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Maria Crone; siblings: Elisabeth Crone (Alois Plemel), Bernard Crone (in infancy), Paul Crone, Erwin (Barbara) Crone, Art (Martha) Crone, Art Munkler, Philip Kunz and Martin Wuchner. A Funeral Mass for Cleo was offered at Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Englefeld, on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Fr. Darryl Millette. Others taking part were Alexandra Bowman and Cody Crone, crossbearers; Loriann Bowman and Tracey Crone, scripture readers; Alexandra Bowman, intentions; Erik Bowman and Payton Crone, giftbearers; and Holy Guardian Angels Choir, music ministry. Active pallbearers were Craig Crone, Pam Crone, Loriann Bowman, Bryan Bowman, Tracey Crone and Chris Crone. Interment followed at Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Cemetery, Englefeld. Memorial donations may be directed to either Humboldt District Hospital Foundation General Equipment Fund or Heart and Stroke Foundation. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
