April 29, 1917 – November 9, 2015

Mrs. Clara Loretta (nee Seidel) Fisher of Lakeview Pioneer Lodge, Wakaw, SK, (and formerly of Bruno, SK), passed away at her residence on Monday, November 9, 2015, with her family at her side. She was 98 years of age, and the last surviving member of her generation. Clara, the youngest daughter of Paul and Gertrude (nee Noeth) Seidel was born on April 29, 1917, at Bruno, SK. She grew up on the family farm and attended Bruno School. In 1931, after graduating from Grade 8 with honors, she stayed home to help on the farm. On October 12, 1938, Clara married Leo Fisher. Nine children, five daughters and four sons, were born to them; however, one son died in infancy. Clara and Leo began their life together in Bruno where they lived for a short time before moving to Flin Flon, MB. Leo enlisted in the Winnipeg Royal Rifles of the Canadian Armed Forces in 1943 and served his country in the Second World War. In 1946, after his discharge from the Army, the Fishers returned to Bruno where they took over the operation of the Seidel family farm. Around 1950, they started Fisher’s Dairy Farm with Aryshire cattle, which they operated until 1973. At that time, Clara and Leo moved to Saskatoon and their son Gerald carried on with the farm. In 1980, the Fishers bought a motor home and enjoyed their retirement traveling with friends and relatives to Alaska, the Maritimes, and a number of states in the U.S.A. As well, they spent many weekends in their motorhome camping and fishing with various family members. Over the years, Clara also enjoyed gardening, horticulture, knitting, quilting, and crocheting. In August 2000, she and Leo moved back to Bruno and resided at Prairieview. Leo passed away in April 2001. Clara continued to reside in Bruno until March 2013 when she relocated to Caleb Village in Humboldt. A final move was made to Lakeview Pioneer Lodge in March 2015, her home until the present. Clara will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by six children: Carol Hafner, Marvin Fisher, Gwen (Gerald) Kalthoff, Ruth (Cliff) Embury, Allan (Faye) Fisher, and Juaneta (Rick) Bendig; daughter-in-law, Traci Fisher; son-in-law, Delmar Hebig; and by 26 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo Fisher (2001); two sons: Joseph Fisher (in infancy), and Gerald β€œBud” Fisher (2015); one daughter, Gail Hebig (2007); two grandsons: Colin Fisher (1976) and Darcy Fisher (2015); son-in-law, Don Hafner (2009); parents, Paul and Gertrude (nee Noeth) Seidel; four brothers and four sisters; and by all her in-laws. The Prayer Service was held at St. Bruno R.C. Church, Bruno, on Thursday, November 12, 2015, at 7:30 p.m., led by Fr. Joseph Ackerman, OSB. Scripture readers were Cliff Embury and Joni Hebig, and the eulogy was delivered by Gerald Kalthoff. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Bruno R.C. Church on Friday, November 13, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Joseph Ackerman, OSB. Others taking part were: Allan Fisher, crossbearer; Cliff Embury and Joni Hebig, scripture readers; Roxanne Hebig, Carla Walker Hilary Leuschen, intentions; Juaneta Bendig and Ruth Embury, giftbearers; Marg Helgert and Lillian Theissing, memorial table attendants. Interment followed at St. Bruno R.C. Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to either Prairie View (Bruno) or Lakeview Pioneer Lodge (Wakaw). Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
