Chad Patrick Thompson1978 - 2011It is with profound sadness that the family of Chad Patrick Thompson of St. Gregor announces his sudden and unexpected death at his residence on Monday, April 4, 2011. He was 33 years of age. Chad was born to Patrick and Leona (nee Raab) Thompson on March 24, 1978, at Dawson Creek, BC. The family moved to Whitehorse, YT, where Chad spent most of his life. Following his formal education, he worked in the construction industry building houses with his dad. Eventually, Chad moved to Dawson City where he continued his carpentry career and worked as a landscaper. He then went to the Yukon where he was briefly employed at a gold mine. Chad moved to Edmonton, AB, and continued to work in the construction industry. Chad eventually made his way to Humboldt, where his mom was living, and settled on an acreage near St. Gregor. On June 27, 2009, he married Reagan Mesenchuk at their home on the acreage. Chad's skill and love of woodworking was an asset as he renovated the farm house for his family. Many other hours were spent planting, weeding, and harvesting his garden, a pastime he really enjoyed. Chad was also an avid outdoorsman, and loved hunting and fishing. Wherever he was, he was usually accompanied by his beloved dog Harlow. Chad's thirst for knowledge was on-going; he had always been interested in the Second World War, and did a lot of researching and reading on that subject. He also liked to watch both the History and National Geographic channels. More than anything, he was known as a loving, generous, caring, compassionate, and big-hearted person. "He may have seemed tough on the outside, but was a teddy bear on the inside." Chad will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife, Reagan (nee Mesenchuk) Thompson and children, Logan, Emily, and Noah of St. Gregor, and Connor of Regina; his mother, Leona Thompson (Peter Zopf) of Muenster; father, Patrick (Darlene) Thompson of Whitehorse, YT; two sisters: (Chad's twin) Christie Thompson (Fleur Bromfield) of Kamloops, BC, and Tracey (Lee) Bergermann and children Mikaela and Mackenzie, all of Muenster; step-brother, Shane Gauld of Whitehorse; step-sister, Jody (Neil) McDermid and daughter Aubree of Grande Prairie, AB; father-and-mother-in-law, Barry and Maxine Mesenchuk of Humboldt; brother-in-law, Ryan Mesenchuk (Lauren Hawkins) and children Tighe, Dominic and Josephine, all of Calgary, AB and by numerous special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, John and Hilda Raab; and by his paternal grandparents, Percy and Helen Thompson. The Funeral Service for Chad was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Brenda Curtis. Urn bearers were Reagan, Logan, Emily and Noah, and words of remembrance were given by Christie Thompson. Interment followed at St. Gregory R.C. Cemetery, St. Gregor. Memorial donations may be directed to the Leslie & Irene Dube Centre for Mental Health, c/o Royal University Hospital, 103 Hospital Dr., Saskatoon, SK, S7N 0W8.
