GOBOLOS:

Catherine Margaret Gobolos (nee Mueller), 74 years of Humboldt and formerly of Middle Lake and St. Benedict, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, November 29, 2012. Cathy was born on August 28, 1938 at St. Benedict. She grew up there and attended the local school. Cathy married Frank Gobolos and they farmed in the St. Benedict area. For the first years of their marriage, she worked alongside Frank on the farm, and raised their two children, Adeline and Sheldon. In 1979, Cathy began a 16 year career at Bethany Pioneer Village in Middle Lake, where she worked in the housekeeping department. Her time there was enjoyable as she made many friends with the staff and residents alike. In 1994, Frank and Cathy moved to Middle Lake. Frank passed away in 1995 and Cathy continued to live in Middle Lake until 2011 when she moved to the Harry Ford Center in Humboldt. She was a very creative person, enjoying knitting, sewing, crocheting, crafts, painting, scrapbooking and all kinds of art work. Cathy had a passion for gardening, producing a bounty of vegetables each year as well as beautiful flowers. Her faith was an important part of her life and while living in St. Benedict and Middle Lake, she was active in the CWL. She loved her grandchildren and could often be found boarding the bus for Edmonton to go and spend time with them. Cathy liked traveling and was able to see many parts of Canada over the years including trips to Alberta, BC, Ontario and the Maritimes. Since moving to Humboldt, Cathy joined the Senior Choir and was enjoying being a part of this singing group. She was truly a people person, happiest when she was visiting with people, friends and strangers alike. Often she spent her evening on the telephone, connecting with friends near and far. Cathy had a heart of gold, she was always willing to help anyone, do anything for them or give anything she could to make life better for someone else. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her two children: Adeline Gobolos (Ron Wilbee) of Edmonton, AB and Sheldon Gabolos (Michele Bessette) of Humboldt; two grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Dustin Wilbee; five step-grandchildren: Jodi and Angie Wilbee, and Brianna, Brooke and Morgan Ries; and an aunt, Anne Hintenberger of Welland, ON. Cathy was predeceased by her mother, Mary Mueller; husband, Frank Gobolos and sister, Rosie Mueller. The Funeral Mass for Cathy was held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, celebrated by Fr. Gregory Roth. Others taking part in the mass were: organist, Joan Jackson; cross bearers, Dustin Wilbee and Kaitlyn Wilbee; readers, Jodi Wilbee and Michele Bessette and urn bearers, Adeline Gobolos and Sheldon Gabolos. Interment followed in the St. Benedict Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Benedict. Memorial donations in Cathy's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humboldt, SK.
