Robert Bruce Gordon:
September 27, 1920 - April 1, 2013
The death of Mr. Robert Bruce Gordon of LeRoy, SK, occurred peacefully at Lanigan Hospital, Lanigan, SK, on Monday, April 1, 2013. He was 92 years of age. Bruce was born on September 27, 1920 to Robert and Martha (nee Durham) Gordon at Delisle, Sask. He was 6 years old when the family moved to a farm east of LeRoy, SK. Bruce attended Natika Rural School completing Grade 8. He helped his Dad on the farm and worked for local farmers until he started farming on his own. Bruce loved the farm and especially working with horses. On October 14, 1946, he married Hazel Finner in St. Ignatius R.C. Church at Sinnett. They were blessed with four children; one daughter and three sons. Bruce and Hazel lived together on the family farm for over 61 years until Hazel's passing in 2008. Bruce was a very active member of the community. He served on numerous boards and committees, many of which he was involved in at the same time. In November, 2010 Bruce moved into LeRoy across the street from the Elks Hall. Bruce was a personable, friendly, caring man who was willing to help wherever he could and always had time for a visit or a story. Being a very family oriented gentleman, he loved spending time with his family; one of his greatest pleasures was attending his grandchildren's activities. Bruce will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Jeanette (Don) Warrian of Lanigan and son Darren (Loreen Douglas) of Red Deer, AB; son Ken (Kathy) Gordon of Yorkton and family Jason (Krista) Gordon and children Olivia and Nikolas of Yorkton, Ian (Tara) Gordon and children Paige and Presley of Edmonton, AB and Chase of Yorkton; son Stan (Gail) Gordon of LeRoy and family, Eric Gordon of LeRoy and children Natasha and Rebecca, Ervin Gordon of St. Gregor, Karen (Dave) Holaday and children Holden, Zachary and Kierstyn of Humboldt, Melissa (Dean) LaRouche of Saskatoon and children Renee and son Brixton of Toronto and Toni of Saskatoon, Cliff (Lori) Lisitza and children Zoe and Elizabeth of Clavet; son Les (Lucy) Gordon of Humboldt and family Lars and Layne (Sam Thomas) of Saskatoon; one brother Cliff (Mary) Gordon; three sisters Edna Junop, Lily Larson, Doris (George) Inglis; brother-in-law Ervin Block; nieces, nephews and their families; new friends and old. He was predeceased by his wife Hazel (July 6, 2008), parents, Robert and Martha; one sister, Margaret Nunn; in-laws, Grenville and May Finner; sister-in-law, Verna Block; and by brothers-in-law: Carl Nunn, Don Junop and Ralph Larson. The United Funeral Service was held at the Wildlife Hall, LeRoy, on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Brenda Curtis. Interment followed at LeRoy Public Cemetery.
