Benedict August Knoblauch:

August 24, 1933 - March 25, 2013

The death of Mr. Benedict "Ben" August Knoblauch occurred peacefully at his residence, St. Mary's Villa, Humboldt, SK, on Monday, March 25, 2013. He was 79 years of age. Ben was born to August and Elizabeth (nee Graf) Knoblauch on August 24, 1933 in the Viscount district. He attended Lucasville School for his early grades and then he took his high school in Bruno, SK. In the early 1950s, he worked for the Searle Grain Company. In 1955 to 1956, Ben worked at Ponteix (south of Swift Current, SK) as a hired hand on a farm. From 1957 to 1961, he worked in the oil fields around Estevan, SK. Ben then worked for two years at Fort St. John, BC, in the oil fields. Later, he settled in Humboldt where three sons were born. Ben worked with Humboldt Plumbing and Heating Ltd. as a plumber and tin smith, until he slowly retired due to disability. He enjoyed volunteering his time to coach all minor sports that his sons were involved in. Ben was an avid gardener. Ben also loved fishing, golfing, playing crib, visiting friends and family out at Wakaw Lake, as well as doing any outdoor activity. In his retirement, he especially enjoyed golfing with friends and during one occasion he achieved a spectacular "hole-in-one" at the Humboldt Golf Course. Ben lived in the Harry Ford Center until his mobility slowly decreased. Three years ago, he moved into St. Mary's Villa, his home until the present. The family would like to say thank you to all those who helped, supported and assisted him through the years. The family extends special thanks to the staff of St. Mary's Villa for giving exceptional care and support to Dad for the past three years. Ben will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his three sons, and seven grandchildren: Blaine (Lianne) Knoblauch and children Jordana, Andie, Evan and Michael; Trent (Arlene) Knoblauch and children Tara, Jade and Tyrel; and Dean (Carrie) Knoblauch; four brothers: Joe (Helen) Knoblauch, Alphonse Knoblauch, Edwin Knoblauch, and Leo Knoblauch; one sister, Irene (Joe) Holtz; two brothers-in-law: Ray Biwer and Lorne Suchan; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
