POSSBERG: Alois Charles

The death of Mr. Alois Charles Possberg of Elmwood Lodge, Saskatoon, SK, occurred at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, on Wednesday, September 4, 2013. He was 60 years of age. Alois was born on June 17, 1953, to Erich and Anna (nee Hiebert) Possberg in Humboldt. He grew up on the family farm in the Burr district. Alois loved being around the animals, especially the horses. He was only eight years old when his father died. For the last several years, Alois resided at Elmwood Lodge in Saskatoon and worked at Cosmo Industries for 25 years. His favorite pastime was looking through picture books, particularly ones that included photos of animals. Alois is survived by five brothers and four sisters: Hubert (Joan) Possberg; Helen (Gilmore) Gerster; Wilfred (Doreen) Possberg; Herman (Rosemary) Possberg; Marianne (Ed) Pappenfoot; Barbara Knippel; Gerard (Mary) Possberg; Anne (Fred) Monchuk; and Florian (Betty) Possberg; sister-in-law, Jean Possberg; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Erich and Anna (nee Hiebert) Possberg; three brothers and two sisters: Bernard Possberg, Norbert Possberg, Rita Possberg, Margaret Possberg (all in infancy), and Leonard Possberg (2003); and by brother-in-law, Alvin Knippel. The Prayer Service for Alois was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Friday, September 6, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., led by Florian Possberg. Scripture readers were Marianne Pappenfoot and Doreen Possberg, and the eulogy was delivered by Wilfred Possberg. Music ministry was provided by Michelle Peters and Angela Yakimoski. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Scholastica R.C. Church, Burr, SK, on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Gregory Roth. Others taking part were: Hubert Possberg, crossbearer; Mary Possberg and Fred Monchuk, scripture readers; Anne Monchuk, intentions; Florian Possberg and Betty Possberg, giftbearers; Rosemary Possberg and Joan Possberg, memorial table attendants. Music ministry was provided by Michelle Peters, Angela Yakimoski, and the St. Scholastica Church Choir. Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Alois' life". Active pallbearers were Hubert Possberg, Wilfred Possberg, Herman Possberg, Gerard Possberg, Florian Possberg, Gilmore Gerster, Ed Pappenfoot, and Fred Monchuk. Interment followed at St. Scholastica R.C. Cemetery, Burr. Memorial donations may be directed to either the St. Scholastica R.C.
