The passing of Alma Thiel of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson, SK, occurred on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at her residence at the age of 92 years. Alma was born on January 6, 1923 to August and Agatha (nee Peters) Thiel in Bruno, SK, and grew up on the family farm. When she was old enough, Alma thoroughly enjoyed working for the Sisters at the Convent. After the passing of Ralph’s wife Rita, Alma took care of her brother Ralph in his final years. She loved to spend time gardening, listening to music, playing cards, and she was also a good cook. Alma was very fond of her special niece, Joan Freistadt, who helped her throughout her final years with moving, doctor appointments, and other favors, and also her trusted and special friends Albertine and Alain Tremel. A special thanks to Wesley and Tina Thiel for all their time given in helping with all the final arrangements for the funeral and collecting Alma’s belongings from the nursing home. Alma will be lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law Glen Hay; sister-in-law Barbara Thiel; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents August and Agatha (nee Peters) Thiel; two sisters: Helen Hay and Dorothy Thiel; and four brothers: Clemens Thiel, Hugo Thiel (in infancy), Theodore Thiel and Ralph Thiel. The Funeral Mass for Alma was offered at St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church, Bruno, SK, on Monday, January 19, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. celebrated by Fr. Joseph Ackerman, OSB.
