BATTLEFORDS - The 2024 Pack the Patrol Unit fundraiser gave a great show of support to the Battlefords Humane Society this holiday season.
The annual Pack the Patrol Unit campaign, initiated by the City of North Battleford Community Safety Officers (CSO), continues to yield "a massive influx of much-needed supplies for the Battlefords Humane Society," the City of North Battleford said in its release.
“We are overwhelmed by the support from our community members each year,” CSO Unit Commander Jerry Koliniak stated. “The CSOs, Citizens on Patrol, Battlefords North Stars players, and volunteers from the Humane Society collected about 2,500 pounds of pet food and supplies for the Battlefords Humane Society at the event on December 6th.”
Koliniak noted that many generous community members provided financial donations for the cause, totalling more than $3,000.
Donations and supplies were collected at a number of locations in North Battleford, including Canadian Tire, No Frills, Wal-Mart, and PetValu.
New this year was a partnership with the SJHL’s Battlefords North Stars at their Friday night match-up versus Weyburn. CSOs helped sell pucks for the “Puck Toss” during intermission at the game, with proceeds of the sales, in the amount of $310, being split between Battlefords Citizens On Patrol Program, the Battlefords Humane Society, and the Battlefords North Stars. Plans are already underway for the 2025 edition of the event, tentatively scheduled for Dec. 5th, 2025.
