City of North Battleford unveils new and improved website

The $19,450, months-long project recently wrapped up with Councillor Kelly Hawtin noting that the older site sometimes proved difficult, even for councillors.

NORTH BATTLEFORD - Visitors to the City of North Battleford’s website will notice significant upgrades to the city’s website this morning, April 27.

This wraps up the months-long project that cost the city $19,450 with an annual website hosting fee of just under $7,000.

According to a media release from the city, Dustin MacDonald, the city's communications administrator, unveiled the during Monday's, April 24 council meeting with a site tour.

“The new cityofnb.ca site has been conceived and re-written for content – more than 160 pages worth of content – to be easier to maneuver for persons with visual impairment accessing the site with the assistance of a screen reader," MacDonald said.

Councillor Kelli Hawtin provided positive feedback on the new design at the meeting, noting that there sometimes even city councillors struggled to navigate the city’s former website.

MacDonald went on to highlight the enhanced accessibility for persons experiencing disability as a key upgrade.

"Quick access icons make it much more simple to navigate. Overall, the change will make the city’s website much more user-friendly and optimized for desktop, tablet and mobile site viewing.”

GHD Digital Public Sector Solutions was awarded the contract in 2022 following a public bidding process for the website’s development, design, layout, and annual hosting services.

Should users have any difficulties in accessing the city’s new website, the city is requesting users email [email protected] or call 306-445-1700 during business hours for assistance
