NORTH BATTLEFORD - North Battleford drivers will notice the roads more busy than usual as the city undertakes more Underground Pipe and Asphalt Rehabilitation (UPAR) work this summer.
Construction work starts this week as crews complete upgrades in the Bready Elementary School area for the next several weeks.
The extensive project involves storm-line installation, concrete repairs to sidewalks, and milling and paving the roads.
"Road closures are expected throughout the project, but the city's engineering group does not anticipate any lengthy interruptions to water and sewer services for residents," the city said in a release.
The city noted that local residents in the area were advised of street parking changes, property access and new garbage collection information related to the project. Anyone with questions can contact the UPAR line by calling or texting 306-441-0359.

The city plans to provide regular updates on the 2024 UPAR program through a series of bi-weekly that started Aug. 6 at 1 p.m.
"Project timelines and updates will be provided with assistance from the projects' contractors," the city said.
The meetings are also open to the public and will be posted on the city’s website so they can also be viewed at a later date.
Other UPAR projects planned ahead include upgrades at 101 Street (north of 20 Avenue, up to 101 Crescent), and lane paving in the alleys between 91 and 92 Streets, and between 18 and 19 Avenues.
