Bethany will be holding their annual benefit concert this April 18, 2023.

WILKIE - Bethany Assisted Living is holding its annual benefit concert on April 18, at 7 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church.

“This is something we have been doing for several years,” Lynn Christiansen, Bethany Enhanced Living administrator, told SASKTODAY.ca over the phone.

“...over the years we’ve raised $13,000, $14,000 … we raised a good $1,000 to $2,000 every time, it adds up over the years.”

Both the Wilke Stage Band and Leon Ochs, who are playing at the function, have graciously agreed to play for free, with admission by donation. Donation receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more.

“People just give … we’ve had people give up to $500.”

The Wilkie Stage Band started in the 1980s and grew from an original school band, inviting adults from the community to join.

“...we just kept going when we all graduated,” Christiansen said, who is also a member of the band. However, the band has shrunk down to six people, and this concert will be the Wilkie band’s final.

“I’m hoping we’ll get a good response, we have in the past, people have been happy to come out,” Christiansen said, noting that coffee and treats will be served as well.
