REGINA — The Water Security Agency (WSA) is renewing the Agricultural Water Management Fund to support water management projects in the province.
Eligible recipients include farmers – or individuals or corporations registered in Saskatchewan who own, lease, or rent property for agricultural production purposes – watershed associations and stewardship groups, Saskatchewan Association of Watersheds, conservation and development area authorities, irrigation districts, R.M.s, First Nations, and consultants recognized as qualified persons by the WSA.
Approved applicants can receive up to $95,000 per project, which can then be used to cover costs of mitigation and rehabilitation work for ag water management projects, as well as costs related to support, technical and engineering.
The province noted 21 projects have been supported by the fund since 2022.
“We are pleased to offer a program that will help Saskatchewan producers manage water responsibly and sustainably,” Minister Responsible for the Water Security Agency David Marit. “Saskatchewan producers are the best stewards of the land and we believe supporting our agricultural sector with programs like this leads to a growing and vibrant agricultural sector.”
The first application intake period is on until June 30 and the second intake period is July 1 to Sept. 1.
