The Yorkton Kinsmen Terriers of the SSMHL Midget Division snuck into the final playoff spot thanks to the combination of a 3-3 tie against the Estevan Apex Bruins and a Regina Rangers 6-4 loss to Swift Current last Tuesday.

Their playoff reward: A three game series against the SSMHL Midget Division regular season champion Regina Capitals (27-3-8).

Game One saw the Yorkton Kinsmen Terriers travel to Regina Monday night, but things did not go to plan for Yorkton as the top ranked Capitals scored one in the first, two in the second and three in the third to blank the Kinsmen Terriers 6-0 and take a one-game-to-none series lead.

Alex Geddes took the loss for the Kinsmen Terriers despite making 52 saves on the night while Morgan Bogdan stopped 20 Yorkton shots for the shutout. 鈥淕eddes played a great game,鈥 offered Kinsmen Terrier head coach Noel Budz immediately following the game, before admitting that Regina 鈥渄ominated us in all areas of the game.鈥

Budz then offered what he believes to be the plan for Game Two, should Yorkton want to live to see another game. 鈥淭he first thing is to stick to the plan,鈥 mentioned Budz, suggesting that the Kinsmen Terriers got away from their game plan in Game One. 鈥淭hey are a highly skilled team and we need to match their speed and bring our physical game.

鈥淲e will also have to establish more net presence in the offensive zone.鈥

Game Two of the Best-of-Three SSMHL Midget Division quarterfinal series between the Yorkton Kinsmen Terriers and the Regina Capitals will be tonight (Wednesday) at the Farrell Agencies Arena. Game time is set for 7:45p.m.
