With the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League on its seasonal break, it is a good time to see just how the local Yorkton Terriers are faring.
The Terriers headed to the break with a rare two-wins a row, but were only 3-6-1 in the last 10. Only Melville had fewer wins in their last-10, with two.
The Terriers overall record of 11-20-1-1 gives them 24 points, and third spot in the Viterra Division, with a five-point bulge over last place Melville.
Weyburn sits atop the Viterra with 49 points, with Estevan second with 35.
Battlefords has a league-best 53-points to lead the Finning Division, with Melfort topping the Sherwood with 52.
On offence the Terriers have scored exactly 100-goals to-date this season. Only Humboldt with 92 and Melville with 94 have scored fewer, although LaRonge and Weyburn both have only 101.
Battlefords leads the league with 145-goals.
Individually Travis Mayan leads SJHL scorers with 59-points, based on 31-goals and 28-assists.
Carson Welke is the top Terriers, 32nd overall, tied with 28-points, based on eight goals and 20 assists.
Brandon Sookro and McKenzie Welke are tied with 22 points, for 47th overall.
Connor Sych of the North Stars, Eric Sinclair of the Melfort Mustangs and Zach Douglas of the Estevan Bruins are tied for the lead in scoring by a defenceman, each with 23 points.
Yorkton’s Regan Seiferling sits 10th among defence man with 17-points, based on seven goals and 10 assists.
On the defensive side of the puck Yorkton has allowed 123 goals, fewer than four other teams. Humboldt has allowed the most at 145, while Weyburn has been the stingiest allowing only 79.
Taryn Kotchorek tops SJHL goaltenders. The North Stars net minder sports 1.91 goals against average in 20-games, with a .925 save percentage.
Terrier Jakob Severson sits 10th in the league with a 3.33 GAA, and Matt Kustra is 12th at 3.44.

The Terriers return to the ice New Year’s Day at 2 p.m. at the Farrell Agencies Arena when they host Melville.
