The Yorkton Terriers played only one game last week, and the results were not flattering as the visiting Battlefords North Stars skated away from the Farrell Agencies Arena with a 7-1 win.

The Stars struck first as Dustin Gorgi scored at 4:29 of the opening period, a goal equalled at 5:43 by the Yorkton’s Dexter Robinson.

The game would remain deadlocked until the 5:22 mark of the second frame as Layne Young scored a powerplay marker for the visitors.

Kendall Fransoo scored at 8:05, and Jake McMillen added two at 11:17 and 16:03 to extend the Battlefords lead to 5-1.

In the third Jordan Townsend and Igor Leonenko extended the lead to 7-1 in the third.

Jakob Severson started the game for Yorkton allowing five goals on 27-shots through two periods, with Matt Kustra finishing the game allowing two goals on 12 shots.

Ryan Rewerts had the win in the Stars net facing 26-shots.

In total there was 116 penalty minutes throughout the game, 74 of which were issued to the Terriers.

Four different Terriers were ejected from the game for fighting majors, including Corwin Stevely, Jordan Evans, Brandon Sookro and McKenzie Welke.

With the loss the Terrier record fell to 4-10-0-1 for nine points to still sit third in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Viterra Division.

Weyburn leads the Viterra with 21-points, with Estevan sitting with 15. Melville trails the pack with six points.
