WINNIPEG — Canadian defensive backs Nick and Noah Hallett agreed to terms on contract extensions with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday.
The brothers were eligible to become free agents Feb. 13. Nick Hallett's extension is for two years while Noah Hallett's deal covers the 2024 season.
Nick Hallett returns to Winnipeg for a fifth season. The five-foot-11, 202-pound native of London, Ont., hasn't missed a game with the club since being selected in the 2019 CFL draft, a span of 68 regular-season contests and nine playoff games — including four Grey Cups.
He led Winnipeg with 20 special-teams tackles last season, which was third-most in the CFL.
Noah Hallett embarks on his fourth season with Winnipeg but missed all of 2023 due to a knee injury.
Roughriders re-sign standout receiver Bane to extension
REGINA -- Shawn Bane Jr. is staying with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The Riders signed the American receiver to a two-year contract extension Thursday. He was eligible to become a free agent Feb. 13.
The five-foot-nine, 178-pound receiver had a banner 2023 season. He had 93 catches for 1,104 yards and four touchdowns last year, his first with Saskatchewan.
Bane joined the Riders after two seasons with the Calgary Stampeders (2021-22). He appeared in 13 games with the Stampeders, recording 24 catches for 388 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned 25 punts for 262 yards and 14 kickoffs for 294 yards.
Ottawa Redblacks sign running back Williams to contract extension
OTTAWA -- The Ottawa Redblacks signed American running back Devonte Williams to a two-year contract extension Thursday.
The five-foot-nine, 170-pound Williams was eligible to become a CFL free agent Feb. 13.
Williams, 26, ran for 1,002 yards on 182 carries and three touchdowns in 15 games last season, his second with Ottawa. In 2022, Williams had 454 yards rushing on 90 carries in eight regular-season contests.
Toronto Argonauts sign Canadian linebacker Harelimana to extension
TORONTO -- The Toronto Argonauts signed Canadian linebacker Brian Harelimana to a contract extension Thursday.
The six-foot-two, 228-pound Harelimana joined the Argos last October and appeared in the East Division final versus Montreal. He began the season with the Alouettes before appearing in 12 regular-season contests with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The Alouettes selected Harelimana in the fourth round of the 2020 CFL draft out of the University of Montreal. He has appeared in career regular-season games, accumulating 18 tackles, 13 special-teams tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble.
