RCMP investigating apartment fire in western Manitoba town where one person died

SOURIS, Man. — A 70-year-old woman was found dead in an apartment building in western Manitoba last week after police responded to a fire. Mounties say they were called to an apartment building in the town of Souris, Man.

SOURIS, Man. — A 70-year-old woman was found dead in an apartment building in western Manitoba last week after police responded to a fire. 

Mounties say they were called to an apartment building in the town of Souris, Man., about 245 kilometres west of Winnipeg, on Wednesday after receiving reports of a fire. 

When officers arrived, fire and medical crews were already at the apartment. 

The woman who lived in the building was declared dead at the scene. 

Police say the fire was contained to one unit. 

Souris RCMP and the office of the fire commissioner are continuing to investigate.
