Jets sign defenceman Haydn Fleury, forward Mason Shaw to one-year, two-way contracts

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Jets have signed defenceman Haydn Fleury and forward Mason Shaw. The Jets said Thursday that both deals are one-year, two-way contracts with an average annual value of US$775,000 in the NHL.

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Jets have signed defenceman Haydn Fleury and forward Mason Shaw.

The Jets said Thursday that both deals are one-year, two-way contracts with an average annual value of US$775,000 in the NHL.

Fleury, 27, had five points (one goal, four assists) and 20 penalty minutes in 24 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning last season. He also played five games for the American Hockey League’s Syracuse Crunch.

Fleury, from Carlyle, Sask., was originally drafted in the first round (seventh overall) by Carolina in 2014. He has 37 points (10 goals, 27 assists) in 268 career NHL games for the Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks, Seattle Kraken, and Lightning.

Shaw had three points (one goal, two assists) and 34 penalty minutes in 20 games for the Minnesota Wild last season. The 25-year-old from Lloydminster, Alta., also posted seven points (four goals, three assists) in nine games for the AHL’s Iowa Wild.

Shaw, a fourth-round pick (97th overall) by Minnesota in the 2017 NHL Draft, has posted 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists) and 118 penalty minutes in 82 career games for the Wild.
