Walk, dance, celebrate; 1000’s gather for Saskatoon’s pride parade

Saskatoon's Pride Parade reflects theme, "Showing the many colours of pride."

SASKATOON — Not the threat of rain, nor the downtown detours would deter people from coming out to Saskatoon’s Pride Parade on June 22.

2001 marked the first time there was a coordinated Pride Festival with a parade in Saskatoon. This year’s event kicked off with a rainbow flag raising at Saskatoon City Hall on June 17, concluding with the parade and community fair on June 22.

This year’s theme was “Show the many colours of pride”

Saskatoon Pride says on its website, “There’s room for us all and our rights in the rainbow that is humanity.”

More than 150 parade entries kept thousands or parade watchers along the downtown Saskatoon parade route entertained with colorful floats, costumes, music and a generally joyful experience.
