REGINA - A sudden death investigation has been launched after an industrial accident Friday morning.
The incident happened at a business on the 400 block of McDonald Street in Regina. Around 8:55 a.m., police were dispatched to the scene on the report of an industrial accident.
Police, Fire, EMS, and the Coroner attended the scene and found two injured adult persons. It was confirmed one of them was deceased. The surviving injured person was attended by EMS and transported to hospital.
Traffic was impacted in the vicinity of the accident, as the road was closed on McDonald Street between Hoffer Drive and 1st Avenue while emergency crews responded to the scene. Residents were asked to avoid the area.
Regina Police Service, in conjunction with Saskatchewan Coroner Service, have launched the sudden death investigation. According to Regina Police, the immediate priorities are to identify the deceased individual and notify next of kin.
Police are gathering information and are also assisting Occupational Health and Safety, who are investigating as this incident may be considered a workplace fatality.
