It's not $250. It's $250,000!

Jeff Smith of Saskatoon has won $250,000.

SASKATOON — Jeff Smith was getting ready for work when he decided to check his Western 649 ticket. At first, the Saskatoon local thought he won $250. While he was happy with that amount, he was even happier when he realized he actually won $250,000 on the June 3 Extra draw.

“I took a closer look and saw the comma,” Smith said when claiming his prize. “I scanned it a couple more times after that just to be sure!”

“I knew what I was seeing, but I was still in complete disbelief; total shock,” he continued.

Smith said winning the lottery feels a little different than he thought it would.

“It’s interesting, I’ve won a couple hundred dollars before and I feel like I was a lot more excited than I am now,” he explained. “But I think it’s because I still don’t believe it.”

The winner said he hasn’t made any plans for his winnings at this point.

Smith purchased his winning Western 649 and Extra ticket at Circle K Convenience located at 3730 Diefenbaker Dr. in Saskatoon. He won his prize by matching all seven digits of the Extra number – 6973236.
