REGINA — A 54-year-old male, Naveed Irshad of Regina, is charged with two counts of sexual interference and two counts of sexual assault of a person under 16.
The charges are the result of an investigation by the Regina Children’s Justice Centre, a specialized integrated unit of the police service that combines police investigators with social workers to investigate allegations of child abuse.
The investigation began on Jan. 4 when police received a report that two female youths, 12 and 13 years old, had been sexually assaulted by an employee of a business in the 400 block of Albert Street North. The youths told police that the assault took place in the back room of the business and that the employee had been calling and texting them for several weeks prior.
According to Regina Police Service, the youths first met the suspect when they attended the business which offers entertainment services, primarily, to children.
Irshad was released on conditions and will make his first court appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court on Feb. 13.
