REGINA - The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added a new Offensive Coordinator while retaining the current Special Teams Coordinator with the club.
It was announced by the Riders and by their new Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator Corey Mace that Marc Mueller has joined the Club as its new Offensive Coordinator.
Mueller is born and raised in Regina and is the grandson of Riders legend Ron Lancaster. He has a decade of coaching experience with the Calgary Stampeders, starting as a defensive assistant in 2014, as the running backs coach (2015-19) and most recently as quarterbacks coach (2020-2023). He won Grey Cups with Calgary in 2014 and 2018. Before the CFL, he was quarterbacks coach at his alma mater the University of Regina Rams where he played for six seasons.
“I am thrilled to be able to bring Marc back home to Saskatchewan as the offensive coordinator,” said Head Coach Mace in a statement. “He was an instrumental part of my process, and his time spent on both sides of the ball learning from the likes of John Hufnagel, Dave Dickenson and Ryan Dinwiddie make him the perfect person to take on this role. I am excited for what he will add to the Rider offence and our organization.”
As well, the Riders welcomed back Kent Maugeri as Special Teams Coordinator for a third season in that role. This will be his ninth year with the Riders overall, having started as a quality control coach in 2016 before becoming the running backs coach in 2017, and then Special Teams coach in 2020.
“Kent has done a phenomenal job in his eight seasons with the Roughriders, growing relationships and working hands on with the team roster,” said Mace in a statement. “His colleagues and players speak highly of him, and his philosophies align with my vision for how I want our team to play. I’m elated to keep him in Saskatchewan and watch him lead our special teams unit.”
Both Maugeri and Mueller have been signed to two year contracts with the club.
