REGINA - Some further details have been released about a fire that took place on Tuesday afternoon at a tent encampment in Regina.
Regina Fire and Protective Services released their update on Wednesday. They report that at 12:39 p.m. on Oct. 17, they responded to a tent encampment fire located in the 1800 block of Halifax Street. That would be near Carmichael Outreach.
Regina Fire reports that according to the responding crews, the fire was fully under control within 10 mins of their arrival.
They also report that firefighters treated one seriously injured patient who was transported to hospital by EMS. Currently, there are no further updates on the condition of the individual. Fire crews also conducted a thorough search of the encampment and determined that there were no other injuries.
The fire department reports that fire investigators have determined the fire started inside an individual tent near the victim, and that the cause of the fire was unintentional and due to misuse of an open flame device.
