Macklin’s New Year’s baby was a boy, born Jan. 6, to parents Mr. and Mrs. Jack Schreiber of Denzil.

Jim Garner of Wilkie was nominated as the Progressive Conservative candidate for the Wilkie constituency.

Running for the title of Unity Winter Festival Queen were Dianne Halstead, Anne Kirkland, Lynn Leier, Dianna Smith and Linda Thiel.

The Town of Unity received a federal grant to help pay the $120,000 it would cost to improve the town’s water supply. The work to be done included two new well, pumps, a pumphouse, controls and pipelines.

Rob’s Steak House in Wilkie was advertising a special for Saturdays during the month of February – all you can eat spaghetti and meat sauce for $1.99.

At the Unity Motocross Club’s annual general meeting, the Rolan Schell Memorial Cup was awarded to rider Kerry Ganter, who had attained the highest number of provincial points in 2004.

Janel Miller, a student at St. George School in Wilkie, was off to Saskatoon to compete in a regional spelling bee, after winning the Northern Saskatchewan Spelling Bee.

With the SAAN store in Unity having closed, Delta Co-op purchased the building with intentions to move their hardware store into it and also to look for a clothing retailer to lease the remaining space.

After the fire, Ted Smith’s Service in Unity was advertising a closeout sale of all remaining inventory.
