Bradley Flanagan of Unity won the Provincial Bike-for-your-Life Rodeo in Regina for his age group and came home with a brand new three-speed bicycle. Also representing our area were Kevin Orr and Bradley Wagner.
The Wilkie Nursing Home Auxiliary held a fundraising walk-a-thon and barbecue with Mrs. Kay Campbell raising the most money.
Herb Schell was named Best Defenseman in the Wild Goose Hockey League at the league’s awards night.
With a federal election campaign underway, over 1,500 overflowed the facilities at North Battleford’s Comprehensive High School to see and hear Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.

An anti-drug video made by St. George School students Amber Kobelsky, Sharayah Ulrich and Rebecca Cey won the Elks/Royal Purple National Essay Poster and Video contest. The video was so good that Global TV was even considering using it as a public service announcement.
Angela Elder and her new baby, Alexis Erin, were presented with an infant car seat and a number of gift certificates from local businesses. Alexis, born May 24, was the first baby delivered at the Unity Health Centre in 2004.
Western Day Rodeo Queen contestants were Shannon Sword, Kierstin Clarke, Kim Killoh and Cherie Dawn Jamieson.
Playing at 2nd Avenue Cinema in Unity was Shrek 2, which would be followed by Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
