Senlac held their local track and field day, with Glenda Forbes winning the girls’ high point trophy and Dale Kirwer and Darrin Putz tying in the boys’ division.
At the Denzil High School awards night, Kathy Kuhn received the valedictorian award. Receiving the awards for academics were Darlene Kraft, Grade 12; Maureen Zunti, Grade 11; Shirley Hewko, Grade 10; Gilbert Reschny, Grade 9; Robert Boser, Grade 8; and Brenda Reschney, Grade 7. Sports trophies went to Yvonne Sieben and Joe Wandler.
Carol Daratha was valedictorian for the 1974 graduating class of McLurg High School.

World War Two veteran Harold Robertson was named Unity’s Citizen of the Year. Among many other accomplishments after his return home, he was a member of the Unity fire department for 52 years. Robertson was also honoured for 55 years of service by Petro Canada in 1995.
After attending camp, 19-year-old Brad Schell of Wilkie signed a three-year deal to play with the Atlanta Thrashers of the NHL. He was drafted by the Thrashers as the first pick in the sixth round.
James Dushire, a volunteer with the Wilkie Housing Authority, received a 25-year long service award.
Unity Western Days moved their parade to Thursday evening and were awarded with close to 50 entries, giving spectators 30 minutes of entertainment.
