The weather summary from the Dominion Experimental Farm at Scott reported a total of 54.5 inches of snowfall over the winter.

At the Town of Unity council meeting, a committee was formed to oversee the design and construction of a new fire hall.

St. Peter’s CWL elected new officers: president, Mrs. Jane Rundell; vice-presidents, Mrs. Helen Leier, Mrs. Vicky Ashing and Mrs. Monica Thiel; secretary, Mrs. Nida Delfrari; and treasurer, Rose Sperle.

The Wilkie-Unity parents of Exceptional Children were presenting a brief to the Ministers Advisory Committee on the Education of the Deaf. At a hearing in Wilkie, the parents’ group were planning to speak about early diagnosis of hearing loss, parent counselling, teacher training and the responsibilities of local school boards.

Unity Composite High School drama club member Christine Ryan was named Best Stage Manager, for a second time, at the regional drama festival in Meadow Lake. Receiving one of four Medals for Characterization was Corbin Huber. Bryce Robertson, looking after lights and sounds, was runner-up for the Bob Hinitt Technical Excellence Award.

Scott violist Jenise P. Schneider, with the highest mark in Saskatchewan, received a Royal Conservatory of Music Silver Medal for Grade 2 Violin.

Theresa Eppich, age 17, of Handel was Saskatchewan’s winner of the CIBC World Markets Miracle Generation Challenge. Theresa had to write about mentoring, and received a $500 Canada Savings Bond as well as the opportunity to direct $1,000 to the Canadian children’s charity of her choice.
