A warrant was issued for a man who was arrested south of Biggar last month after he failed to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court Aug. 31.

Michael Steven Moyan, 28, from Cold Lake, Alta., was arrested in the R.M. of Biggar and charged with arson, damage to property, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

On Aug. 1 at about 9:10 a.m. Biggar RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle on fire in a rural area. Police also had reports that a man had wandered from a bush area of the vehicle fire and was walking on the gravel road in socks.

Moyan spent the entire day in sweltering 32-degree heat hiding in the area. He was found just before sunset not far from the vehicle fire and was arrested by the Biggar RCMP.  They determined that the truck was stolen out of Kindersley earlier that morning.

Moyan was held in custody until he made his first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court on Aug. 4 when he was released on an undertaking to appear Aug. 31.
