A trial that didn’t go ahead in July in Meadow Lake Provincial Court after witnesses didn’t show up has been rescheduled.

Cory Bouvier, 30, was charged with weapons and robbery offences in April after Meadow Lake RCMP got calls about threats with firearms in the 200 block of 2nd Street West. Ìý

The RCMP Emergency Response Team tactical unit arrested Bouvier. The ERT are a group of highly trained RCMP officers that use specialized weapons, equipment and tactics to resolve extremely high-risk situations. The ERT deals with extreme danger that can’t be easily resolved by general duty RCMP officers. ERT officers have access to more firearms than the standard-issue sidearm pistols regular RCMP officers have, including an MP5 submachine gun, sniper rifle, assault rifle, and shotguns.

Bouvier was denied bail on Aug. 7.

A trial was scheduled July 16 in Meadow Lake Provincial Court but didn’t proceed after key witnesses didn’t show. The court granted the Crown prosecutor’s request for an adjournment to give him time to round up the witnesses. The defence objected to the adjournment saying they were ready to proceed as scheduled.

Monica Bouvier, 24, was also arrested at the home and charged with weapons offences, robbery, mischief and obstruction of a peace officer. She was released on bail in April.

When Bouvier was arrested, the RCMP ERT was in Meadow Lake at the time dealing with a call about threats with the use of a firearm at another house on the 500 block of 6 Avenue West. At that house police arrested Cassidy Dillon Regan, 29. He was charged with firearms-related offences, uttering threats and breach of probation. He was released on bail after a hearing on July 6.

In a matter of just hours, the RCMP ERT went to two homes in Meadow Lake to deal with threats with the use of firearms but police haven’t said whether the incidents are related.

Bouvier also has charges out of Prince Albert that are being dealt with in Prince Albert Provincial Court.

Bouvier was also arrested in connection to a shooting in Meadow Lake in November 2019. According to Meadow Lake RCMP a 32-year-old was shot in the back and a 50-year-passenger injured while they were driving near the intersection of 7th Avenue and 5th Street West in Meadow Lake on Nov. 23, 2019. In that incident police arrested Bouvier, Richard Angus, 38, Joshua Matheson, 26, and Charley Seright, 25. They were charged with flight from police and dangerous operation of a vehicle. Lennex Merasty-Morin was charged with firearms-related offences. The charges of against Bouvier in that incident were stayed in April. The charges against Richard Angus were withdrawn. The charges against Joshua Matheson were stayed in Meadow Lake Provincial Court. The charges against Seright didn’t go to court.

The charges haven't been proven in court.Ìý

Bouvier’s trial on the charges out of April 2020 is re-scheduled to Oct. 15 in Meadow Lake Provincial Court.
