Each student celebrated during Education Week

The Preeceville School opened its doors and welcomed community members and parents to join students and staff in celebrating education week that kicked off October 19 and concluded October 23.

The Preeceville School opened its doors and welcomed community members and parents to join students and staff in celebrating education week that kicked off October 19 and concluded October 23.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The week began with a bus driver appreciation day and a Kindergarten to Grade 6 afternoon of reading with parents. The event encouraged parents to read to students and acknowledged library week. On Tuesday, the school had a school-wide picnic that encouraged family members to have lunch with the students.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 An open house featured various booths and showcased the new gym on October 21. The booths featured math in the classrooms, the junior volleyball team, middle school math, technology in the classroom, reading, travel club, art club, diversity of living things, SRC, SCC, garden club, band, athletics, attendance and achievement, Grade 12 course selections, and graduation 2016 plans.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Corianne Metherell was presented the Student of Distinction award. Chris Balyski, GSSD board member, made the presentation. She received a plaque to keep and a plaque will be kept at the school.

"Corianne is dedicated to her learning and always strives to exceed expectations,鈥 said Balyski. 鈥淪he has a strong work ethnic which supports her desire to succeed. Learning is a priority for her, taking pride in whatever tasks she sets out to accomplish, whether it be completing school assignments, volunteering at a community or school event or promoting the cadet program. She is eager to learn, taking on any additional training that will aid in reaching goals. She has received several awards to recognize her efforts in cadets, figure skating and school academics. In 2012 she was awarded Saskatchewan StarSkate Athlete of the Year award and has achieved the highest ranking in Air Cadets, W02, as well as being recognized as the Best Cadet of the Year in 2014 and 2015. She is kind caring and respectful. someone who takes an interest in the well being of others. She also demonstrates daily qualities exemplified by the GSSD, belonging, respect, responsibility, learning and nurturing," he said.聽
