Profile: Regina Pasqua candidates

Five parties are running in the Regina Pasqua constituency.

REGINA - Muhammad Fiaz and the Saskatchewan Party are looking to win Regina Pasqua for the third time since its inception in the 2016 provincial election.

Fiaz moved to Canada from Pakistan in 1995. He previously worked as a road consultant for the Saskatchewan Government Insurance.

He and his family currently reside in Regina. 

In the 2020 election for Regina Pasqua, the Sask Party collected 49.3 per cent of the vote. The race between the Sask Party and the New Democrats was close as the NDP and candidate Bhajan Brar got 44. 6 per cent of the votes.

Brar is running for the NDP again in Regina Pasqua. Brar is a father and grandfather and serves as an active community leader.

He also studied as an engineer, working multiple jobs in the industry.

In that same election, the Saskatchewan Green Party ran and got over 4 per cent of the votes. Now, the Sask Green Party is sending a new candidate, Ekaterina Cabylis, to win the riding.

The fourth party running for Regina Pasqua is the Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan and their candidate, Justin Parnell.

Parnell was born and raised in Regina and moved to Calgary to complete his high school education. He earned a diploma in social media at Saskatchewan Polytechnic.

He also enjoys helping out at the Regina Food Bank.

In the 2020 election for Regina Pasqua, the PCs got over 4 per cent of the votes.

One party that did not run in the 2020 Regina Pasqua was the Buffalo Party. However, in this upcoming election, the Buffalo Party is sending their candidate to run for Regina Pasqua, Shannon Chapple.

Regina Pasqua is the only riding in Regina where the Buffalo Party is in for the 2024 election.

With five candidates in the riding, Regina Pasqua is one of two ridings in Regina to have five parties vying for a seat, with Regina Wascana Plains being the other.

The provincial election is on Oct. 28.
