HUMBOLDT - Gillian Halyk grew up in Tuffnell, near Foam Lake, and is now the candidate for the Green Party in the Kelvington-Wadena constituency.

Halyk was in 4-H in high school and previously had her own small herd of cattle. She attended the University of Saskatchewan where she studied Animal Science and Ag Business. Haluk held a long-term position with the provincial SPCA as an animal protection officer. Halyk then became trained as a massage therapist, and has pursued that field to this day in the Town of Foam Lake. Halyk also helps her parents manage their cattle herd and is slowly growing her own herd.

Halyk feels that it is important to stand up for the environment – for the sake of all of us, and for the animals who cannot speak for themselves. Halyk is living her candidacy for the sake of the ranchers of tomorrow.
