MEADOW LAKE - Denis Allchurch, the former MLA for Rosthern-Shellbrook, has announced his candidacy as a Saskatchewan United Party (SUP) candidate running in the Meadow Lake riding for the upcoming provincial election.
Allchurch previously served for the Saskatchewan Party, from 1999 to 2003 in the former Shellbrook-Spiritwood riding, and then from 2003 to 2011 in the Rosthern-Shellbrook constituency.
According to the SUP release, Allchurch wanted to run for election as a Sask United Party candidate because he was concerned about what he called "corruption and mismanagement" in the current Sask Party government. He believes Saskatchewan would benefit from more "new, true conservative leadership."
"Scott Moe has taken the Sask Party down a liberal path," Allchurch said. "Jon Hromek and Sask United offer a true conservative alternative to Scott Moe's Sask Party. I am proud to let my name stand for Sask United and be part of Jon's team."
Allchurch has previously served as the Official Opposition House Critic for Northern Affairs and Deputy Critic of Saskatchewan Forest/ Forestry. He was also a member of the Standing Committees on Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure, the Environment, Private Members' Bills, and the Special Committee on Regulation.
Saskatchewan United Party Leader Jon Hromek is excited to have Allchurch, as well as Greg Brkich who is running in the Saskatoon Â鶹ÊÓƵeast riding, representing the Sask United Party.
"First and foremost, I want to say how much respect I have for Denis and Greg," he stated. "Both of these gentlemen care deeply about our province and have shown it through their many years of service.
"I am honoured they decided to join my team and run under our banner." Allchurch added. "The expertise they bring to the table will greatly benefit our party and the province."
